Melodies of life. Kid Rock was born January 17, 1971 in Romeo, Michigan. His albums The Polyfuze Method and Early Mornin' Stone Pimp featured lyrics too dirty to play on the radio, but relentless touring and self-promotion earned him a cult following. Singer and musician. Kid Rock was born Robert James Ritchie on January 17, 1971, in Romeo, Michigan, a small rural town north of the Detroit metro area. Record labels weren't quite sure how to promote a white rapper who blended heavy metal and country rock.
